Well, well, well....

I'm always amazed by things, usually in a good way. Technology is amazing, it is ever changing.

I remember back when we had our music on 8 track tapes! Now, people don't go to the store to buy their music, they just buy it over the internets and then put it on their little pocket music players.

I'm also always amazed by people. Not that I should be, because while times change and things change, people never change. People are always the same. There is always that sin nature.

I've been visiting this one ole' website called the Fighting Fundamental Forums.

AMAZING!

I say amazingly good in some aspects. I genuinely believe there are a lot of people there that have a heart to love, server and worship God, no matter what denomination they are.

I also have seen amazing the other way, people who would like you to believe they are Christian, but in truth, they are not Christian at all. Everything they type is mean spirited, wanting to drag someone else down.

Friend, we MUST be wary of our communication. It doesn't matter if it is on facebook, a 'Christian' forum, email, chat, in person, no matter what the type, this verse covers all communication. No matter how we communicate, it's covered.

Ephesians 4:29
Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.

We can break this verse into two parts.

1) Let no corrupt communication proceed our of your mouth...

This verse seems to be very plain to this old mountain born preacher. There is no room to wiggle around on this one.

It is plain as that two hole breather on your face that this verse tells us that our communication shouldn't be corrupt!

You say, Dr. Happy, what in the world does that mean?

Let me help you out friend.

I went on over to Dictionary.com and they told me what those words mean.

The word NO means "not in any degree or manner; not at all".

Corrupt means " debased in character; depraved; perverted; wicked; evil:".

Communication is " the imparting or interchange of thoughts, opinions, or information by speech, writing, or signs.".

Friend, there is nothing else to say except it's real clear that ANY communication, no matter how we go about it, is to be zero percent corrupt!
2) "but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers."

This is plain English folks.

Our communication shouldn't corrupt. That's easy to understand.

The second part of the verse isn't too hard either.

Our speech should be good to point that when we speak, we build others up and minister grace to whoever hears.

This really is summed up in what my mama said to me all my life, "If you can't say something good about someone, don't say nothin at all"

It's not rocket science, it's EASY to understand.

If we look at that next verse it says "And grieve not the Holy Spirit of God..."

I don't know about you friend, but my goal is to be FULL of the Holy Spirit of God not to be grieving Him.

Why can't we work to just edify each other?

We all slip now and then, get in the flesh, but in the end, our job is edification.

That doesn't mean we shouldn't defend the faith. That means that even when we are defending out position, even with an unruly unbeliever, we need to watch and make sure our defense doesn't become corrupt and our flesh doesn't shine through above our spirit.

This isn't just a problem and a principle for the FFF, I wasn't trying to suggest that. This is something we need to apply to our daily lives. It is rampant on the internet where things are so easy to say as in each interaction people have with another.

Hope this has been a help to y'all, it's something not just to read and study, it's something to live by.
